Palette Mundi

Palette Mundi is our co-creation project among artists using DeepDeepLights and living worldwide. The idea is to make travel for other artists easier, as selecting colors for your new journey destination is quite a task. Each place has a different light, flora, fauna, and architecture. We can know exactly which colors we need only when we have been there and painted a bit. But going somewhere for the first time?
To make this process easier, we have put together our palettes of places we love. Use them as inspiration – you can order the palette as it is (choose the color size and let us know which palette it is in order notes) or you can pick and change anything – choose another color or more, and also the palette size is your free choice.
When putting together your palette, we suggest thinking about a base trio – yellow, blue, and red. This gives the possibility to mix almost everything. Then add some colors that your soul is asking for. Then, think about how big your travel palette would be. We have tins for 3, 6, 10, 15, 20, 45, and 104 half pans. Sticking to these sizes is one of the options, but we have a bit more variation in palette sizes. We will pack your palette mundi in one snug tin, as it is for travel.
And we are always happy to hear from you if you would like to be part of this ongoing project – we will keep it open and will update world palettes. We feel it is our mission to collect palettes of places worldwide. This might be a beautiful collection that we can pass on to the next generations. Maybe it will become a book someday :).
Mixes nicely with other natural and human-made pigments. For best performance, add a few drops of water some minutes before starting to work with it. It will reactivate the pigment and will be more fluid.
All our watercolors are handmade from pigment or pigment mixes, binders, and essential oils as conservative. Binder is made by us from gum arabic, natural honey, and water. Our watercolors have a flowery scent, with lemongrass as top note and sandalwood in the base note.
