“When my kids draw I can hear their souls sing” /Agnese/
Drawing is a natural state of human beings – we all draw as kids and then at some point most of us kick ourselves out of the childhood heaven of free color exploration. Usually, it happens when a little artist’s expectations are not met on paper. It can be because of a lack of skills, bad tools, or materials (we all have seen crumbling & pilling paper and pale muddy colors in our art). And voila – we make a decision “I can’t draw”. We have been there. Returning to drawing is like a homecoming. We studied how creative blocking works and how to prevent it. That’s why we asked our kids to curate kid sets to give them the best watercolors possible.
Our little artists chose six of their favorite colors (we helped to balance them) and there are three curated sets by Sonya (3 years old), Gerda (9 years old), and Rūta (14 years old).
- Permanent yellow light
- Rosso Magenta
- Contemporary vermillion
- Chrome green
- Deep Blue
- French Ultramarine
- Gold ochre
- Gerda’s pink
- Rūtas dream
- Cherry blossom/Ultramarine Rose (when cherry blossom is out of season)
- Solstice fern
- Deep blue
- Royal yellow
- Mayan red/Gerdas pink
- Forget me not from the Meadow set
- Solstice fern
- Rūta’s dream
- Night Raspberry
Or your little artist can choose 6 colors from our pre-selected kid-friendly, easy-to-use, nice-to-mix list of 25 watercolors. We suggest choosing one yellow, one red, one blue, one green color (first 4 rows) and then add two that make their hearts sing. This will make a nice balanced palette that can accompany your little artist growing up. If you choose this option, please add color options in notes before checkout or send us an email to email@example.com.
All our watercolors mix nicely with other natural and human-made pigments. For best performance add a few drops of water some minutes before starting to paint. It will reactivate the pigment and will be more fluid.
All our watercolors are handmade from pigment or pigment mixes, binders, and essential oils as conservative. Binder is made by ourselves from gum arabic, natural honey, and water. Our watercolors have a flowery scent, with lemongrass as the top note and sandalwood in the base note.
