Our 100% cotton sketchbook story started with beetles. Daina loves beetles. Big, small, brown, shiny, red, round, or tall – it doesn’t matter. Then it was her birthday and we celebrated it in France. Agnese and her girls were looking for a present and they started to notice beetles everywhere – as 3d puzzles, which were packed small to bring home, and also a beautiful sketchbook – a 100% cotton handmade by a company named Epigram. The present was packed and all was accompanied by a painting of beetle souls and we had an amazing birthday evening together. The next day we tried the sketchbook and discovered something beyond our most secret wishes – the paper was absolutely amazing for our DeepDeepLights – the feeling was “it is a match made in heaven”. We developed an Isaac watercolor journal line later, but when the summer came and beetles were everywhere we decided that we all needed Beetle sketchbooks.
We see this sketchbook as a perfect daily companion for writing and watercolors. That’s why they come in a set with 6 watercolors of your choice in a tin. Paper is slightly weathered, so you don’t have to be afraid to pour your soul as it is. It is handmade 100% cotton paper, 96 pages. They are as soft as tissue (that’s how kids described it) but amazingly hold color on just one side of the paper. It doesn’t change shape and you can flood it with water. The only thing is that it is soft and not eraser friendly. It means that these are books for true expression without erasing anything.
We have made this sketchbook in a set with six watercolors of your choice in a tin with a hinged lid.
