Royal Yellow. Pigment number PY83, single pigment half-pan watercolor. Fits in all palettes designed for half-pans.
I am Royal Yellow. The name and color come from China and the robes worn by its Emperors of the Ming dynasty more than 500 years ago. Some call it also Chinese yellow and Imperial yellow. And Buddhist monks have borrowed my color for their clothing. Historically my tint was obtained from saffron that in turn is harvested from the crocus. But I am a contemporary French version – humans make beautiful yellow pigment in their laboratories and fix it on a mineral base. This grounds me and makes me very friendly. I love this world – land, and people, big and small. And I am happy to get to know all of you.
Royal yellow is a part of our French collection – environment and human-friendly contemporary pigment collection.
Mixes nicely with other natural and human-made pigments. For best performance add a few drops of water some minutes before starting to work with it. It will reactivate the pigment and will be more fluid.
All our watercolors are handmade from pigment or pigment mixes, binders, and essential oils as conservative. Binder is made by ourselves from gum arabic, natural honey, and water. Our watercolors have a flowery scent, with lemongrass as top note and sandalwood in the base note.
