This set is a collaboration between Deep Deep Light and an amazing artist, our ambassador Kateri Ewing. We call Kateri our watercolor whisperer – she paints, feels, and does magic with this medium. As well as words, emotions, and bringing humanity on the surface.
“Thirteen times each year we get to experience the complete illumination of our beautiful Moon. The Sun and Earth continue their eternal dance and when they are in just the right places the magic happens and the Moon—she just glows. And that IS her magic… she reflects the beauty of what is all around her.
That is what we can do with watercolors, too. We can reflect the beauty of what is all around us.
Our Moon has always been important to humanity. It coaxes our tides, marks our time, and gives us light within the darkness. For many animals, particularly birds, the Moon is essential to migration and navigation. Other species, including humans, will time their reproduction to coincide with the specific phases of the lunar cycle. For centuries, traditional cultures have given names to the full moons of the year, thirteen of them, and the full moon in May is called the Flower Moon. It comes at a time when the Earth,
in the Northern Hemisphere, is singing with flowers, and it is a time when our creativity begins to stop a little stronger, too. How can you see all the lovely colors bursting forth and not wish to paint them? It is a gentle, beautiful time, May.
And so… the Flower Moon palette. Fifteen luminous hues to inspire you to take a brush to paint to paper and sing along with the Earth… in flowers.” /by Kateri Ewing/
The Flower Moon set consists of 15 half pans in a tin with a sliding lid:
  • Zinc
  • Peach blossom
  • Gerda’s pink
  • Cherry blossom
  • Wildberry
  • Lavender
  • Gold Ochre
  • Rhubarb
  • Solstice
  • Forget-me-not
  • French ultramarine
  • River
  • Bat
  • Night raspberry
  • Mother Earth grey

Mixes nicely with other natural and human-made pigments. For best performance add a few drops of water some minutes before starting to work with it. It will reactivate the pigment and will be more fluid.

All our watercolors are handmade from pigment or pigment mixes, binders, and essential oils as conservative. The binder is made by ourselves from gum arabic, natural honey, and water. Our watercolors have a flowery scent, with lemongrass as the top note and sandalwood as the base note
