Design color for your soul

Many of us have experienced that mysterious feeling when one particular color makes our soul sing. Or dance. That particular deep blue of the spring sky half an hour after the sunset. Or that silvery orange pink of reflecting water on a cold autumn evening. Or that warm purple that smells like summer meadow at the night. Sometimes we are lucky to get this color by mixing it for one painting. And the next time it’s not there. It is close. But not there.

We started DeepDeepLight because we wanted those specific colors. The ones that make our souls happy. Now we are ready to give this experience to you by becoming your personal paintmakers. Just like renaissance painters had their own personal masters who worked hard to find that particular combination of pigments to make their art special. They created signature palettes and often just one particular color mix made the painting style so special. We think it is partially because of the color. We believe this color awakened the artist’s soul and it was like a love dance that created a masterpiece.

Here is how the process works. You have an idea of the color. Together we try to understand what it is exactly (because quite often we start with a vague feeling of the color). Then we find which pigments could be the ones creating this color. Sometimes we need some granulating and more earthy, sometimes we might need transparent and light ones. Sometimes we have to mute them, sometimes to deepen them. Each pigment combination has its own character and creates a different result. Just like different musicians perform the same music piece differently. When that is done, we will agree and meet online for the mulling session. It might take around 2 hours and several iterations back and forth to finetune the result.

When the color is ready it will take around 4-8 weeks for it to cure. We will ship you 10 half-pans of your color plus 2 full pans (or 14 half-pans) and a handful of dots to share with your friends. We will also make a small set with all involved single pigments so that you can safely finetune your color according to your mood.  Later we can recreate the color if necessary (the minimum order is 10 half-pans). Or we can agree on bigger amounts initially (if that is a color for a specific event for example).

Also, we see that these special colors can be, for example, a special color of your friendship. Or family. We imagine this as a great experience for a bunch of painting friends (like we are here – three friends who paint together) or if painting is your family DNA, this could be a very special event for all of you together and your special color can be passed to next generations.

Total time necessary for creating your own color can vary from 2 to 4 months. It depends from many factors, starting from taming our and your creative minds, pigments used and their mood, weather outside – like season, humidity, thunderstorms, amount of rainy days, music we listen to and many other unidentified factors.

We would be honored to enjoy this experience together with pigments and you!
