Contemporary Vermilion. Pigment number n/a, pigment mix, half-pan watercolor. Fits in all palettes designed for half-pans.

I am Vermilion. Contemporary Vermilion. People love me and are afraid of my name at the same time. My grandfather, natural Vermillion was as bright as red chili and more toxic than poison ivy. But artists need bright red to paint their emotions. So my father Cadmium Red replaced my grumpy grandpa. Everyone was raving and happy painting love, anger, toreadors, and strawberries. But the curse has hit my family and appeared that all Cadmium family is toxic. Pffff. I am an adopted child. Nothing from my toxic ancestors runs in my veins. And people in India can continue to use me in their ceremonies and to mark hair parting line for married women. As well as we all can paint ladybugs, poppies, tomatoes, and the setting sun.

Contemporary Vermilion is a part of our French collection – environment and human-friendly contemporary pigment collection.

Mixes nicely with other natural and human-made pigments. For best performance add a few drops of water some minutes before starting to work with it. It will reactivate the pigment and will be more fluid.

All our watercolors are handmade from pigment or pigment mixes, binders, and essential oils as conservative. Binder is made by ourselves from gum arabic, natural honey, and water. Our watercolors have a flowery scent, with lemongrass as top note and sandalwood in the base note.
